Installation notes for Team Foundation Server

  • Install Windows Server 2003 Enterprise + SP1
  • Install Office 2003
  • Install VS2005 (Just in case I needed)
  • Uninstall SQL Express Tools (otherwise you cant see Management Studio When you install next step)
  • Install SQL Server 2005
  • Download and install "Windows Sharepoint Services with Service Pack 1" here (stsv2.exe, 38864kb)
  • Install Active Directory + DNS
  • Create users TFSSETUP and TFSSERVICE in domain and add them to Administrators group
  • Check whether MS SQL Server, Analysis Server and Report Server running.
  • Start TFS installation
  • Enter user id for the service <domain>\TFSSERVICE
Should I send my install experience to MS.

And here it is, install started finally. Half a day, 3 cans of coke, a ginger tea, 5 buritos...
